Pops Does The City of Angels

(sequel to Pops Does Space City)

My dad came to visit us for a weekend. We had so much fun and we miss him so much. Warning: all the pictures were blurry or dark. I need to learn how to take pictures.

Pops had his birthday a few weeks before he came out so we had a late celebration. We face timed Clay and Mandi so they were able to be a part of the action....except eating the cake..... Pops this is what you get for not doing a normal smile.
We then convinced Pops that the only wise thing to do was to buy a season pass to Disneyland. Now he has to visit us all of the time to make it worth it!!

We spent a day and a half at Disneyland. It was wonderful and magical as always.
It was his first time seeing the World of Color! He questioned my recommendation/force to stand in the front row because of all the warnings that we would get wet. I think it's safe to say that he agreed that it was a good idea after the show. Lesson: don't doubt me when it comes to Disney.

Classy
Our family always made it a tradition to eat at the Blue Bayou restaurant which is located inside Pirates of the Caribbean. Highly recommended, but be warned it is pricey! Poor B.J. had to work during the day so it was just me and pops. We got the best seats in the house, right next to the water.

Now I don't take pictures of food lightly...I mean who really wants to see a picture of your food. But I had to make an exception. This is the Monte Cristo sandwich served at the Blue Bayou aka the most amazing food you will ever taste. This ones for you Mandi.

While pops was here Long Beach was having a sandcastle competition. The theme was literacy so all of the sandcastles had to do with books. There are some very talented sandcastle constructors out there. Here are just a few of my faves.

That's Alice in Wonderland in the bottom left corner....if you're confused.

Wowza! Excuse the crazy hair, it's always windy at the beach.

I guess Kool-Aid was excluded from the whole literacy requirement.

Finally, we went to the Famous Chicken Dinner at Knott's Berry Farm. Another highly recommended stop. You don't have to pay to get into the park or for parking and the food is delicious!

Thanks pops for visiting us!!! Good thing you are visiting the City of Angels quarterly:)

USC Trojans!!

B.J. and I went on a tour of the University of Southern California's main campus. It was absolutely beautiful! It is so neat to see the old buildings and the detail put into the fountains, statues, and even the walkway. Now we know where all of our money is going....

The campus reminded me of the campus on Monsters University. If you haven't seen the movie you should. You're welcome Disney for the free advertisement.

I don't know if you can see but the shrubbery spells USC. It was hard to get a good angle.

Our tuition is paying for that horse....

Tommy the Trojan

Describes B.J. well...and how fitting that his butt is in the picture. Just one of those Kodak moments.

On campus there is one of those creepy head statues. I will spare you that picture. However, it had this great quote.

B.J. will not be going to the main campus. He will be on the health science campus which is quite far from the main campus. He currently is working at a gym on that campus.

Fancy shmancy gym.
